Sometimes things can feel so confusing that you just don’t know which way to turn. It takes courage to tell an adult that your friend is about to run away, but try to do this as soon as possible.
Think of something reasonable and realistic reason. Have fun with it but keep it general, nonasty names. The city bus is your best bet, or a long-distance traveling bus if you’re leaving the town/city. There are many reasons why young people would want to run away from home–some of them good, and some of them not so good. Remember to think of the bad things that can happen. Probably the most important thing for young people to understand is that running away is a lot harder, and a lot less glamorous, than you may think. There are cold, sleepless nights; there is danger and hunger; there is a general sense of being lost and not knowing where you need to go.
Don’t bring phone or any electronic device so give your location when turned on, and get tracked down. The bank can track down your card, and see what stores and shops to which you’ve been. It is a good thing, but sometimes bad as we trick ourselves into being rational. To let emotions cool off and really give time to think about life-changing decision. Reach out to people you can trust and talk it over with them. There’s a difference between running away for a good reason when you’re in physical danger and running away for a bad reason when you just got in a small fight with parents.

Now is not the time to set a record for pounds carried. If you don't want to be recognized, take with you only the clothes you wear least often. Some other things that might be useful are maps, an umbrella, a utility knife, a combination lock, a face mask, and a blanket.Don't bring your phone or any electronic devices.
Typically the people who offer internships to high schoolers will be freelancers. I haven’t had my bosses ask for any form of identification, and they pay me, so this is a safer method. You should cold-call people and land a paying internship (in the area/state that you plan on leaving to) prior to leaving so that you know you will have a source of money there. The reason I want to run away is from all the bad memories, the haunted dreams, and mostly because I'm scares of myself.

There’s not much pride in it, and many people will flat-out ignore you, but with the right strategies, you could be quite successful, and maybe even get enough to save some money. In the winter months, you may want to try to find a building with an elevator if you are in a downtown area. Wants to travel, see and meet new places and new people. Possible freedom from neglect, abuse may be verbal, physical, or sexual, or harassment.
These places will usually have food samples open to the public which you can snack on. Ensure to take a cart with you and look like you have a purpose but don’t hang around. You can use the public bathrooms to wash yourself. You’ll have to accept that at some point, someone is going to want to know where you came from, or what you are doing.
Other types of status offenses are not going to school , violating curfew, buying cigarettes, and underage drinking. There are people offering rides and usually, they want some gas money and/or some help driving. There might be someone saying they will drive you to the east coast and if you could drive part of the way that would be great too. Of course, the risk is that the person is unsavory. Sometimes they might be moving cross country or they just want a free ride themselves and they are like hey you can use my car. The advantage of this over transportation systems like airplane or Amtrack are that you need certain identification to ride Amtrack.
Effects of drug and/or alcohol use are deadly. Be careful and never use drugs, no matter how low you feel. If you don’t have a place to stay, you’ll have to find shelter elsewhere. If you’ve decided that running away is your best option there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of success. First pack a small bag with essential items like clothes money and a phone charger.
Weapons are illegal to carry around and someone will report you to the police if you have one. The police will think you are a smuggler, murderer, or just a criminal. If you resort to a runaway shelter, they will contact your parents if they recognize you.
Think about all the people you might be affecting by running away. We bond together out of need and necessity, but also because we gain satisfaction from being close to one another. Try to think about the people who will be seriously affected by your decision. You may not know it, but they think about you all the time.Think about your parents. Though it may not always seem like it, your parents love you deeply.
Next write a note to your parents or guardians explaining why you’re leaving and where you’re going. This will help them understand your decision and hopefully not worry too much about you. When you’re ready to go choose a time when your parents are out of the house or asleep. You need it to pay for things like public transport, food, and entering some public places (e.g. public pools or gyms). Being without money is going to make survival and getting around much, much harder. You can fill up a bottle of water at nearly any sink, but beware labels that say "Not Potable", as this means the water isn't intended for drinking. If someone or someplace looks suspicious, or if food smells or looks suspicious, take the food, but when the person leaves, toss it away.
Again, we are not legal experts, but we can peak in general terms. If you were to leave before then, your mom would have the option of filing a runaway report with the police. Running away is not a criminal offense, it is a status offense. This means that you cannot do it because of your age. If your mom files a runaway report, then anyone that you decide to stay with, could be charged with harboring a runaway and the severity of that varies from state to state. Unfortunately, we do not provide advice because of our non-directive approach but we do try to come up with some options that fit within the realm of the law.
